ACMA Requirements – Use of RCM

The Australian Communications Media Authority (ACMA) conjointly own the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) trade mark. The use of the RCM for products subject to ACMA arrangements (eg. EMC, radiocommunications, telecommunications, EME) are set out in ACMA regulatory arrangements. Please visit www.acma.gov.au for all ACMA requirements.

Registration in the EESS Database

The EESS Registration Database for Responsible Supplier registration is jointly used by the ACMA and the Participating Jurisdictions of the EESS.

A supplier who intends to supply products that are required to be labelled under an ACMA labelling notice must register on the EESS Registration Database as a ‘Responsible Supplier’.

If registering for ACMA purposes “only”, a supplier must ensure that only the ACMA acknowledgement is checked. A supplier who is registering for ACMA-only purposes is not able to enter any product details. There is no fee associated with ACMA-only registration.

No fees are required to register as Responsible Supplier for ACMA-only in the EESS Registration Database. If you are prompted to pay a fee, you have incorrectly selected for registration under EESS requirements.

Please note that ACMA also use the term ‘responsible supplier’ and have ‘levels’ of equipment. These do not correlate directly with EESS levels of equipment.

Please also note that Agents are not permitted under the EESS. An agent cannot act as an intermediate to allow others to use the trade mark.

Responsible Suppliers are given a copy of AS/NZS 4417.1 when they register on the EESS Registration Database as it includes correct dimensions of the RCM.
