IEC 62680 Testing Lab The Mouse Testing SASO IEC 62680-1-3, Keyboard Testing SASO IEC 62680-1-3

SASO has introduced a new circular regarding charging ports for smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices sold in Saudi Arabia.

The circular mandates that manufacturers shall adopt either the USB Type-C or USB Power Delivery standards specified in SASO IEC 62680-1-2:2017 and SASO IEC 62680-1-3:2017 for charging ports of portable electronics. From 1 August 2024, the following products imported to Saudi Arabia must comply with the mentioned standard.

Notified body shall review all valid Product Certificates (PCs) to verify compliance with this requirement and attach evidence of this to the technical file for each PC issued through the SABER platform, and provides SASO with a list of valid PCs whose status has not been modified in accordance with the text of this circular in order to cancel it and stop issuing Shipment Certificates (SCs) before 1 October 2024.

Note that the Authority will withdraw random files through the SABER electronic platform starting from 1 Aug 2024 to verify that the entities meet this requirement, and the Authority will take the necessary legal measures with the non-compliant bodies.

The second phase is expected to take effect on April 1, 2026 and will include laptop computers.
